The Australian Shepherd was originated in the Western United States. The Australian Shepherds increased rapidly with the boom of the western style after the World War II. The breed became really popular in public appearances like rodeos, horse shows, movie etc. And this particular breed has inherent versatility and train ability has made this breed useful on farms and ranches.
Many ranchers continued to develop this breed, maintaining adaptability, keen intelligence, strong herding instincts and its eye catching appearance has made this type of breed popular among the farmers and ranchers. Today, the Australian Shepherd servers the community in every possible way by being working ranch dogs, guide dogs for the blind, hearing dogs for the deaf, pet therapy dogs, drug detectors, and search-and-rescue dogs.
How ever many people believe that this particular breed is registered in Australia but in reality is not registered in Australia as a native breed. The United States Australian Shepherd Association works hard to main the breed true type in its land of origin.
